We have always had an "eye" for foundation bloodlines. From our first appaloosas in 1974 to our present herd, the look of the Phippen model has captivated us.
Seeing an ad for Joseph Plains that emphasized foundation breeding in 1992, inspired us to focus our breeding and make it "true to the model."
Many have given us guidance along the way. We thank them for helping us get to the point where we are producing some of the purest bred appaloosas in the world!
We are passionate about this breed and love to pass on the knowledge others imparted to us. We invite you to contact us with any questions you have on the breed and our horses.

Owners of Caretaker Appaloosas
"The 'heritage' I speak of is the original 4,932
foundation Appaloosa
horses that carried the
'F' prefix
to their registration
numbers. These
horses were noted for
having smooth, ground
covering gaits over rough
terrain and traveling
great distances.
This took stamina,
sure-footedness, and
heart. Our mares and
stallions carry very high
percentages of these
original horse." - Xen
